To supplement its core training courses, GBDI has developed, in conjunction with several international and local institutions, several complementary, intensive training courses to GBDI's "holistic" approach to biodiversity/biotechnology issues. Every attempt is made to conduct training within the regional area of developing countries, and to meet unique local needs.
Topics include:
- Natural product chemistry
- The economics and marketing of biodiversity products
- Biosafety regulatory procedures
- Writing grant proposals, and
- Plant extracts preparation.

Training Course Costs
Scholarships are available for participants from developing countries for covering most of the regional training courses. Participants generally pay only a minimum fee. Regional training courses draw participants from various professions (lawyers, scientists, economists, intellectual property professionals, and medium to high-level policymakers).
Participants from courses given for only one country are drawn exclusively from key government ministries. Places are reserved only for high-level policymakers (directors and above, including ministers).
How to Get Started:
To create such a course, a request must be submitted to GBDI by the head of an institution or high-level government official clearly stating the area(s) of the course interest.
