What GBDI Can Do For You

Since it was established in 1999, GBDI has conducted multidisciplinary training sessions about biodiversity, biotechnology and (related) law in five countries (Kenya, Botswana, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda, Cameroon) of sub-Saharan Africa. Overall, nearly 500 scientists, lawyers, public officials and other professionals from 43 sub-Saharan countries in EAST AFRICA, WEST AFRICA and SOUTHERN AFRICA have received training in these sessions.

GBDI also uses its unique professional resources to provide consultations for public- and private-sector organizations that want to expand their presence in a promising market for bioresources -- or move into new markets.

Depending on your needs, GBDI's bioresource experts can help by:

  • Supporting efforts to develop a practical, realistic strategic plan for realizing the < economic potential of resources in the bioscience sector.<
  • Providing comprehensive, multidisciplinary training about bioresources and related intellectual property rights for leaders in the public- and private-sector.<
  • Developing and strengthening the public/private sector partnerships that are vital to the success of any long-term strategic plan.<
  • Developing relationships with other stakeholders whose support is vital.
