Dr. John Kilama, President and CEO

Dr. John Kilama, President of Global Bioscience Development Institute, has a broad background in the pharmaceutical, agricultural biotechnology and agrochemical chemistry. Born in Uganda, Dr. Kilama received his Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona in 1988, a Pharmacy degree from the University of Kentucky, Lexington, Kentucky in 1979 and a BA in chemistry from Berea College, Berea, Kentucky in 1976.

Dr. Kilama worked in DuPont Company as a Senior Medicinal Research Chemist, and was awarded several patents that cover innovative applications of new classes of chemicals for crop protections and published several scientific peer-reviewed articles in the agrochemicals journals. At DuPont, he developed a natural product team in the Chemical Discovery Department. He also helped established several collaborations between DuPont and other institutions in developing countries. He developed an approach to establishing a long lasting, workable relationship between multi-national corporations and institutions in developing countries.

Mr. Wendell Holland, Esq, Vice President and General Counsel

Wendell F. Holland is Counsel with Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel LLP, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is a member of the firm's Business and Finance Department. Mr. Holland is a retired Judge and former Commissioner of the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission. His regulatory expertise includes exposure to virtually all types of issues involving for examples, water, and transportation utilities. He has focused on the economic aspects of regulation, restructuring, and mergers and acquisitions.

Prior to joining Obermayer, Mr. Holland was a Vice President at American Water Works Company where he focused on major acquisitions of domestic and international water systems. Mr. Holland has extensive experience in international energy and utility law. He had been retained by the multinational Southern African Development Community to draft its Energy Protocol and served as lead energy counsel. In addition, he has made presentations to and negotiated with energy ministers and chief executives regarding the formation of a sub-Saharan power pool and an Energy Treaty.

Mr. Holland adds to the Firm's telecommunications and international law practice by assisting clients in energy and telecommunications matters in Europe. Mr. Holland is a member of the Pennsylvania, Florida and New York Bars, and has served on corporate boards and a number of national committees and boards. He received his B.S. from Fordham University in 1974 and his J.D. from Rutgers Law School in 1977.

Mr. Alan M. Field, Director of Communications

Alan M. Field has more than 20 years of experience writing about economic development, international trade, technology transfer and related issues that affect both non-profit organizations and the private sector. He has managed news bureaus covering Latin America and Asia for such publications as Business Week, Newsweek, and Forbes. His on-scene reporting from Asia, Latin America, the Near East, and Europe earned several awards. He also launched and edited a successful newsletter, Internet Marketing Report, providing advice to thousands of Web marketers and strategists in both the non-profit and the private sectors. A graduate of Brandeis University (Waltham, MA), and Columbia University's School of International Affairs (New York, NY), he has delivered presentations on international trade, marketing and economic development at conferences in the U.S., Europe and Japan. He has a working knowledge of Japanese, French, and Spanish.
